Bruce Waldo, MPA
Bruce Waldo joined Aurora in January 2010 as Aurora West’s CEO and was promoted in July 2011 as CEO of both Aurora Arizona hospitals. Mr. Waldo has more than 30 years of executive psychiatric healthcare management experience for both publicly traded and privately held hospital companies across the country including Community Psychiatric Centers, Hospital Corporation of America, Mental Health Management, Behavioral Healthcare Corporation and Acadia Healthcare Company. Via his vast experience in psychiatric hospital administration, Mr. Waldo has turned around under-performing operations, exceeded budgetary expectations and possesses a distinct ability to create, foster and empower significant clinical and leadership teams. After beginning his college career at Brown University, Mr. Waldo transferred to the University of Washington in Seattle where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and a Master's Degree in Public Administration.
Chief Financial Officer
Rebekah Francis, JD/MBAAs Aurora Arizona’s CFO, and a licensed attorney in the state of Arizona, Rebekah Francis affords the Aurora system strong fiscal leadership, analytical and project management skills and keen process improvement abilities. Ms. Francis joined the Aurora team February 2013 after serving as a Policy and Compliance Counsel/Consultant for Maricopa County for three years. Prior to her county tenure, she was an attorney with Polsinelli Shughart, PC. Ms. Francis has also held a variety of financial operational positions within for-profit and not-for-profit hospitals. She is responsible for the overall financial administration of the Aurora Arizona system and works closely with the CEO regarding operations, internal controls and other issues impacting financial viability. She received a Juris Doctor and Masters of Business Administration from the University of Arizona and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Brigham Young University.
Senior Director, Human Resources
Vicki Thomsen, SPHR
Vicki Thomsen started with Aurora in September 2010 as Aurora West’s Director of Human Resources and was promoted to the Aurora Arizona system Human Resources Senior Director in July 2011. Ms. Thomsen brings broad skills in human resources operations, organization development and employee relations, gained through more than 20 years of experience in senior level positions in manufacturing and healthcare. Ms. Thomsen is responsible for Aurora’s talent acquisition, workforce development and workforce engagement. Ms. Thomsen also received her certification for Senior Professional in Human Resources and is a certified Trainer in Development Dimensions International.
Chief Operating Officer
Erika Heckman, MA
Erika Heckman joined Aurora in February 2018 and has extensive experience with building programs from the ground up, managing daily operations, directing multiple programs to ensure operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and the utilization of evidence-based best practice principles. Erika has over sixteen years of experience in the mental health field with twelve of those years at The New Foundation overseeing daily operations, including four residential programs, two outpatient programs, and an accredited school. Erika received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Arizona and later pursued her Master of Arts from Michigan State University.
Senior Director Clinical Services
Donna Adams, LPC, M.Ed, M.HS, M.C.C.
Donna Adams joined Aurora in July 2018 bringing over twenty-five years of experience from a multi-disciplinary background of education and clinical practice in the behavioral health field. Donna is a Licensed Professional Counselor and holds licensure as a clinician in several states across the country. Donna earned her dual Masters in Education with specialty focuses in Guidance and Counseling and Education and Administration from Lincoln University. Following this, Donna attended Bellevue University and earned her Masters of Human Services and Masters of Clinical Counseling. Donna is a Forensic Therapist and earned certifications in CBT, DBT, as well as Substance Abuse Counseling. Donna has extensive experience in leadership, mentoring, and development of clinical teams to exceed standards of care across educational and clinical environments.
